Launch
The Masibambisane Retired Nurses Organisation launch was held on the 12 July 2017 at the New Germany Civic Hall.
The aim of the launch was to commemorate 16 years of the organisation's existence. Secondly it was to thank the founders of the organisation namely, Ms G. V. Shabalala, the late Mrs N. A. Sixishe-Kunene, and the late Mrs D. Khanyile, by presenting them with trophies, certificates and flowers.
Thirdly, it was to celebrate the organisation's achievements, and some members were awarded tokens of appreciation for their hard work towards the upliftment of the organisation. Fourthly, it was to remember and celebrate the lives of our late colleagues by inviting their families to be with us on this day. Lastly, we thanked God for keeping us in the profession until we retired.
At the entrance, there were special young ladies who were labelled "ASK ME". They were responsible for welcoming and registering guests who were attending the Launch, as well as ushering them to their allocated seats. They also assisted with serving meals to the guests who were unable to help themselves.
Members entered the hall singing with a grand march. There were three Ministers of religion to officiate the occasion, namely: Rev Dr P. Kunene, Rev Mrs T. Mngoma and Rev Dr P. Ndaba. They blessed the occasion, including the trophies, the certificates and the candles of the members who were present, and of the families of our deceased colleagues.
Candles were lit for each and every deceased member, and handed over to each family representative. Members who had performed certain special tasks for the organisation were awarded with either trophies or certificates and a flower bouquet. The Dube Family who provide transportation to and from areas which we visit as a group, such as funerals and home visits, were also acknowledged.
The nurses pledge was recited together, led by Rev Dr P. Kunene, who is also a retired nurse, with the lighting of candles. The guest speaker, Rev Mrs T. Mngoma, gave an inspirational message on the meaning of being 16 years of age, just as the organisation had become. She also advised us to be resilient and grow. The Launch was graced by our local school choir, Sithengile Senior Secondary, lunch was served to all guests and a cake was cut by our founders.
We thanked everyone who made this celebration a success, and the closing of the occasion was led by the Rev Dr P. Ndaba.
